Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is intended to protect workers from exposure to an arcing fault and the tremendous amount of radiant energy released in an arc flash incident. As an employer, you must provide workers with appropriate PPE and maintain it in reliable condition. When conducting an Arc Flash Hazard study, Falcon Engineering Consultants performs an incident energy analysis to determine the level of PPE required when working within the Arc Flash Protection Boundary for any device. Categories of Clothing as described in NFPA 70E Table 130.7 (C) (10):
Did you know? Even Hazard Risk Category 0 requires the use of safety glasses and voltage rated gloves. Class 00 gloves are 500V max and Class 0 gloves are 1000V max and must be air tested and certified by an approved lab for their dielectric properties every 6 months. |
